Portishead 成立于1991年。Portishead也许算不上Trip-Hop的创始人，但他们绝对是此风格乐队中最先步入主流的，特别是在美国。缓慢、流畅而灵活，类似Massive Attack的Blue lines专辑中的节奏，再加入少许的Cool Jazz、 Acid House以及电影配乐的风格，所有的这些构成了Portishead那种大气而充满诱惑力的的黑色音乐，深受好评。Portishead不象Tricky那样先锋，也不象Massive Attack那样固守舞曲的传统风格。他们典型的Trip-Hop节奏加上简单却反叛离奇的歌词，使Portishead走在先锋与时尚之间。 Portishead还参与了60年代间谍的电影《杀死一个人》To Kill a Dead Man音乐创作工作，Geoff Barrow与Beth Gibbons既是演员又要制作电影音乐。在这部影片中大致情景是一个杀手用装配好的来复枪对准慢慢露面的目标，随着目标的倒下，而杀手也和他的女人离开了，这部影片出了2个版本，黑白的和彩色版本。 发行专辑： 1994《Dummy》 1995《Glory Times》 1997《Sour Times》 1997《Portishead》 1998《Roseland NYC Live》
